7:200-AP2 Suspension Appeal Procedure
7:200-AP2 Suspension Appeal Procedure
If a student is suspended from school, an appeal process may be started within three days of the discipline infraction by a parent or guardian.
All suspension appeals must first be reviewed by a building administrator not involved in the original discipline incident. If there is not a building-based administrator available at the school site, then one will be determined at another site.
The building appeal will be conducted with a review of the incident and all documentation. Witnesses may also be contacted. The building review will be conducted and written correspondence will be sent to the parent or guardian who initiated the appeal.
If the parent/guardian believes that the discipline incident and the building review are incorrect, an appeal may be made to the Board of Education. This must be done within five days of the notification of the building review. Upon receipt of the letter below, a Hearing will be conducted by an impartial hearing officer and the report will be submitted for review to the Board of Education.
