We’re seeking your feedback on our new educational master facilities plan.

A team of citizens is holding a series of community engagement sessions and open houses between February and April to share the details of the educational master facilities plan and seek feedback from residents.  Each session will have unique topics and discussions, and the feedback collected will be summarized and presented to the Board.

Join us at J.B. Nelson Elementary and/or Rotolo Middle School for a tour, to learn about our plan, and provide your feedback. Members of our team will be on-site to highlight some of the key challenges that our aging buildings face.

Session 1

“Assessment of Current Facilities”

Tuesday, February 1, 2022

In this session, the District’s architects, DLR Group, will share the process used to study our schools, conditions, and current ability to meet educational program needs.  Your participation in this conversation will help the Board focus on stakeholder priorities.  Each session will build on content from previous sessions and culminate in a report to the Board to refine its educational master facilities plan.

“Funding the Plan”

In this session, BPS101 staff and advisors will discuss financing options and tax implications for the plan. Your participation in this conversation will help the Board focus on stakeholder priorities.  Each session will build on content from previous sessions and culminate in a report to the Board to refine its educational master facilities plan.

“Community Priorities”

In the third community engagement session, the District staff and architects from DLR Group will provide details on the design concepts of the educational facilities master plan.  Participants will have an opportunity to discuss conceptual priorities for our schools relative to the funding options.

“Developing Recommendations”

In the final session, participants will synthesize information from the previous sessions, including building conditions, funding options, and community priorities, to develop recommendations for the Board of Education to consider when implementing its education facilities master plan.
