February 25, 2020 Board of Education Meeting Highlights – Here is the Agenda for the meeting.

Student Ambassador Report
Tieing up a lot of end of the year sports stuff. Boys wrestling went to state, Basketball/Dance/Cheer Senior night, Kyle Wolford qualified to swim in three events at state. Academic highlights include the Math Team winning the National Championship, we now have three National Merit Scholarship Finalists, and Scholastic Bowl placed 2nd at Conference. On the fun side of things happening at BHS, check out the new Instagram page for WinterFest. It is going to be a blast. Tickets are on sale NOW! More report info can be found HERE. AND…our very own Student Ambassador, Olivia Murchie has committed to Purdue University! Congratulations, Olivia!

Committee Reports
Jon Gaspar shared that the Hall of Honor Committee reviewed all of the nominations for the 2020 Hall of Honor and made their final selections. They can be found HERE>. Congratulations to all of the inductees.
Stipend Committee is working on evaluations. The Capital Improvement meeting was last week. They are in a holding pattern until projects are identified during the Building Our Future Together project.
Sue Locke mentioned that BFEE Grants are under review and that Scholarship Applications are due March 6. Compete for BFEE Scavenger Hunt event is this weekend.

Policy Report
A couple of HR Policies were given a second read and approval. The Board also reviewed policies relating to Community Use of School Facilities. Find details on these policies HERE>.

Board Comments
Jon Gaspar-Thank you to Dr. Hichens and Kathy Scaffidi for fixing the initial glitches to the Board Doc that happened over the weekend. Dr. Hichens handed out the programs from the CTE Showcast that occurred on Feb 12. It was a great showing of all the different career programs we offer our students. Board members also acknowledged how great the Multi-Cultural night was at HC Storm School, and thanked the school PTO’s for their donation of additional playground equipment.
