Wednesday, January 5, 2022 (Archivo de mensajes en español)

Dear BPS101 Families-

Happy New Year! We are getting ready to start second semester classes and face the second half of the school year head-on. Here’s to a great 2022!

COVID Protocols

As of today, there have been no changes to the COVID protocols for schools in Illinois. Any information that you may have heard about new protocols does not apply to a school setting. There will be changes for schools that will be announced by the Illinois Department of Public Health, but there is not a timeline for any announcements. Until then, please follow our current procedures which include keeping any symptomatic students home from school, reporting illnesses to the school nurse, keeping students who have tested positive for COVID home for ten days, and quarantining unvaccinated close contacts. More information about COVID protocols can be found on our website

Reporting a COVID Positive Status

If your student has tested positive for COVID on or after December 31st, it may impact their ability to return to school on January 10th. Please report the date of their positive test and the date of the onset of their symptoms to the school nurse. You will be advised of the date that they are eligible to return to school.

Community Engagement Sessions

Be Heard! The Batavia Public School District needs your voice to help prioritize the elements in their master facilities plan. BPS101 will be hosting 5 sessions that will be used to share information on the plan and gather community feedback on the Building Our Future Together Master Facilities Plan. The first one is scheduled for Tuesday, February 1st at Batavia High School from 6:30-8:30 PM. Each of the five sessions will have unique topics and discussions, all resulting in feedback to be summarized and presented to the Board of Education. In the meantime, if you would like to make sure you hear about the upcoming sessions, please fill out this FORM to get on our email list.

A Note from the City of Batavia:

Share Your Ideas for Walking and Biking in Batavia!

The City of Batavia is partnering with the Active Transportation Alliance and Ride Illinois to develop a community-wide Bicycle and Pedestrian Plan. The plan will focus on improving walking and biking connections between local destinations, filling in gaps in the sidewalk network, and making intersections safer for people traveling on foot or by bike.

This winter, we’re soliciting ideas from the community that will help inform plan recommendations and priorities. There are several ways to participate:

Be well and we look forward to the return to school on Monday!
