Hello BPS101 Family!
At the BPS101 Board of Education Meeting last night, we had the opportunity to celebrate some of our amazing teachers.
- BHS English Teacher Amber Jirsa has been named ISBE’s North Suburban Teacher of the Year (1 of 13 in the running for Illinois Teacher of the Year!).
- RMS Math Teacher Kristy Giesen has received ISBE’s Award of Meritorious Service.
- Lisa Hatfield, 5th Grade Band and Orchestra Teacher, has been given Yamaha’s “40 Under 40” award for excellence in Music Education.
- Chad Clarey, a First Grade teacher at Grace McWayne Elementary, was presented with a volunteer of the year award from Marklund staff during a recent field trip with his students!
- BHS English Teacher Kim Pearlman was nominated for Kane County Educator of the Year.

Batavia Special-Education Parent Network (BSPN) 10th Annual Resource Fair
Join BSPN this Thursday, February 23, 2023, from 6-7:30 PM at Batavia High School to learn about community resources for students from early childhood through age 22, including recreational opportunities, therapy providers, educational consultants, transition planning, and advocacy/support. Admission is free! The BSPN group welcomes anyone interested in improving and supporting special education to stop by the Fair or join them at any of their other events. Parent Webinar
The Batavia High School Student Services department invites you to a parent webinar featuring Annie Barsch, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and Certified Clinical Trauma Professional. Annie will share tips on giving students autonomy and space to grow as they become young adults. To attend, please register by filling out the Registration Form linked HERE. You may also use this link to submit a question to Mrs. Barsch ahead of time or submit a topic you are interested in having addressed.
