Restore Messenger to Families for Feb 3, 2021

Wednesday, February 3, 2021

Dear BPS101 Families-

Throughout this year our District family has continuously faced changes. Routines and schedules are different. We may not be seeing friends, family, teachers, and classmates in person as often or at all. We might miss what felt normal and comfortable, we might have questions about what is happening and why, and we might be struggling with staying connected.

We might also sense the increased stress that those in our lives are facing. Adults may be juggling care for their children, often adding homeschool teacher or “Google Meet technical support wizard” to already increased workloads. Through all of this uncertainty, we need ways to care for ourselves and each other.

There are several Community Resources available to our District family in this time of change. In addition, two resources have recently been created specifically to help local families that are balancing school and work.

  • Are you feeling stressed and overwhelmed? You aren’t alone! Join a free Zoom support group that meets every Thursday for 90 minutes. Sponsored by Aunt Martha’s Health & Wellness. Contact Carli Nehls to reserve a spot at cnehls@auntmarthas.org.
  • BPS101 student services staff have put together a Virtual Calming Room containing tools and strategies to help students manage emotions and feelings in productive ways. There are resources for all ages.

Connections for students can also be made through extracurricular activities. Here is a list of resources available at BHS and RMS:

Elementary families can find great opportunities to connect through the weekly newsletters. The LRC page also offers great opportunities, including the current Battle of the Books! PTO organizations are offering many virtual programs that can be fun for all members of the family. And don’t forget to check Backpack Mail for local events and programs for adults and students.

Be well,
