BPS101 Students Strong Contenders in Area Special Olympics

BPS101 students recently participated in the Illinois Special Olympics spring area games at the College of DuPage and some went on to the state-level competition at Illinois State University!

Special Olympics began in Illinois with the first games at Soldier Field in July 1968. There are now more than 4.5 million athletes in 170 countries—and 10 of those athletes were from BPS101 in 2017!

Congratulations to the following students who participated, placed in the area games, and were honored at the June 20, 2017, Board of Education Meeting for their achievements:

  • Elita Cronin – 6th place softball throw, 6th place 50 meter run
  • Maxine DelMundo – 4th place softball throw, 5th place 50 meter run
  • Ellison Kosky – 1st place tennis ball throw, 2nd place 50 meter run
  • Anna Kroger – 1st place softball throw, 4th place 50 meter run
  • Zackary Martinson – 2nd place softball throw, 2nd place 50 meter run
  • Michael Pavnica – 1st place tennis ball throw, 3rd place 50 meter run
  • Paige Rippinger – 4th place softball throw, 2nd place 50 meter run
  • Eleanor Samsami – 2nd place softball throw, 2nd place 50 meter run
  • Kathryn Sauer – 3rd place tennis ball throw, 4th place 50 meter run
  • Wyatt Stahl – 1st place tennis ball throw, 8th place 50 meter run
  • Ian Thomson- 1st place tennis ball throw
  • Judy Young – 1st place softball throw, 1st place 50 meter run
