Batavia High School Presents EVERYBODY
Batavia High School proudly presents “EVERYBODY” at the Batavia Fine Arts Centre on Thursday, April 18 at 7:30 p.m., Friday, April 19 at 7:30 p.m., and Saturday April 20 at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.
Written by Branden Jacob-Jenkins and finalist for the 2018 Pulitzer Prize, “EVERYBODY” is a modern riff on the anonymous 15th-century morality play “Everyman,” which places man in dialogue with personified concepts in order to convince viewers to embrace a good life. Some of the actors in this adaptation also play abstractions, and the will rotate parts every performance based on a random drawing. In addition, the cast will be chosen by lottery every night, so the cast nor the audience will know who is playing what part until the show starts! Prepare for an emotional, provocative, and wildly funny show with the element of surprise throughout.
The cast of BHS student actors includes:
Freshmen: Christian Allen, Addie Bloom, Ally Cooper, Timothy Gustin, Anna Laurich, Claire Dean, Desert McGarr, Ivan Pynn, Zoe Weeks. Sophomores: Vivien Cohen, Tom Hougen, Allison McPeak and Venessa Plourde. Juniors: Josie Adams, George Aigner, Sophie Chahmirzadi, Bella Clarey, Hannah Curran, Parker Fletcher, Landon Keller, Joe Krella, Nuha McDiarmid, Maisie Sweeney. Seniors: Demi Anderson, Colin Callahan, Anna Harms, Nathan Knautz, Cate Rocha, Maisy Wilson, Lily Zofkie.
Tickets are now on sale: $12 online ($14 at the door) at BataviaFineArtsCentre.org and at the box office by calling (630) 937-8930. In keeping with the unconventional style of this show, tickets will be general admission. Upon arrival, each ticket holder will randomly draw his or her seat number. (Patrons that need to be seated by others in their party due to age or medical necessity should contact the box office in advance or see a house manager upon arrival.) This will allow the audience to experience the performance not just as a spectator, but as an actual participant—after all, we are all EVERYBODY!
