Author Visit: Margaret Peterson Haddix

New York Times best-selling young adult author Margaret Peterson Haddix recently visited Rotolo Middle School.

She came after seeing this book trailer for one of her books, “Among the Hidden,” made by RMS students and RMS special education teacher Garrett Jerger.

“I was flattered. That was one of the biggest compliments that an author can get,” said Mrs. Peterson Haddix about the book trailer, which includes music by Mr. Jerger.

During her visit to the RMS LRC, the popular author shared really interesting stories about how she has arrived at some of the storylines for her books, including “Among the Hidden” and “Found.” Interestingly, conversation around the 2006 movie, “Snakes on a Plane,” did provide a tiny bit of inspiration for “Found.”

A graduate of Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, and former newspaper reporter, Mrs. Peterson Haddix has written more than 40 novels and said that it takes her roughly two months to complete a first draft. Pretty impressive! Her newest book, “Summer of Broken Things,” is coming out on April 10, 2018.
