Alum Spotlight: Katie Rueffer
Former student and volleyball player for Batavia High School, Katie Rueffer, class of 2010, has been named the new head women’s volleyball coach at Lake Forest College!
“It is not an everyday occurrence that someone as young as Katie is hired as a head college coach,” said BHS Head Volleyball Coach Lori Trippi-Payne, “I am very proud of all her accomplishments.”
According to Coach Trippi-Payne, Katie was a three-year varsity standout for the BHS volleyball program in 2007, 2008, and 2009, and was a two-year varsity captain. She also played basketball at BHS for three years and went on to have a successful four-season volleyball career at Elmhurst College.
Katie’s coaching career began at Waldorf University, where she spent two years assisting the head coach in all aspects of the program. She also served as the head coach of Waldorf’s junior varsity team while earning her master’s degree in organizational leadership. For the last three years, she has served as top assistant coach at the University of North Carolina Pembroke, an NCAA Division II program.
