2018 CANDO Exemplary Educator Awards
Congratulations to all of the recipients of Batavia CANDO’s 2018 Exemplary Educator Awards!
Batavia CANDO is a parent-founded group for gifted and high-ability students and their families in BPS101. Batavia CANDO sponsors the Exemplary Educator Award to “honor individuals who go above and beyond to provide enriching experiences for our gifted learners.”
Award recipients were nominated in seven categories via an online survey by both parents and students. Nominations were then adjudicated by the Batavia CANDO Executive Board. Exemplary Educator Award recipients were presented to the Batavia School Board and BPS101 Administration at the Tues., May 15, 2018, Board of Education Meeting.

- Batavia High School Humanities, Arts or Social Sciences Teacher: Kimberly Pearlman, English Teacher
- Batavia High School Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics Teacher: Jean Corkery, Mathematics Teacher
- Rotolo Middle School Teacher: Jeanne Fayhee, Social Studies Teacher
- Rotolo Middle School Teacher: Amy Powell, Family and Consumer Science Teacher
- East Side Elementary Teacher: Scott Hunter, Fourth Grade Teacher at J.B. Nelson
- West Side Elementary Teacher: Kristen O’Brien, Kindergarten Teacher at H.C. Storm
- BPS Administrator or Other Individual Who Is Not a Classroom Teacher (co-recipients this year): Cheryl Koll, Learning Center Director at Hoover Wood School; and Sue Gillerlain, BPS101 Communications Manager
