7:070-Exhibit 5, Codes for Attendance
Teachers have the following for attendance taking:

| ETD | Excused Tardy |
Absent (A/UNV) codes as marked by the teacher must be changed by the school office to one of the following:
| Code | Reason | Description |
| AL | Arrived Late | Student arrived late. No parent reason or notification. Note time in PowerSchools |
| ETD | Excused Tardy | Parent or guardian notified the school of the tardy; time of arrival or discharge to be noted in PowerSchool. |

| DAB | Documented Absence | To be used only if a doctor’s note or school developed student support plan is on file for the student; generally for longer periods of absence and may be applied retroactively depending upon the student’s condition. Such absences are not to be used for truancy. |
| ILL | ILL | Parent or guardian report a student illness. |
| RNH | Nurse Discharge | Health-related discharge from school by the nurse |
| OSS | Out of School Suspension | School discipline, student excluded from school |
| ISS | In-School Suspension | School discipline, student is is not excluded from school |
| HSA | Hospitalized Absence | Mental or physical health hospitalization. |
| HBA | Homebound Absence | This code is used for homebound absences |
| HHI | Home Hospital Instruction | This code is only used by Special Education once an invoice for HSA or HBA has been submitted and fulfilled. (Not to be used by buildings) |
| FNL | Funeral | Student absent for funeral. |
| OFC | Office | This code is used when a student is in the Counseling and Advising Office or Student Services Office during class time. |
| ACT | Activity | Student participation in school-sponsored field trips/activities |
| CVS | College Visit | For high school for student attending a planned college visit |
| MBH | Mental/Behavioral Health | Up to five days can be coded as mental health. The school needs to assess the supports needed after 2 instances. |
| CIV | Civics | Students can be dismissed for playing taps at military funerals, voting (up to 2 hours) or for participation in non-profit or community-based civics experiences (election judge, etc) |
| WBL | Work Based Learning | (PA103-0560) Supervised or directed work-based learning experiences. |
| RH | Religious Holiday | Excused absence for observance of a religious holiday as reported and called in by the parent/guardian. |

| PCI | Parent Called In | Parent or guardian reported the absence where the reason for the absence would not be classified with any other absence code. |
| VAC | Vacation | Vacation, non-school related sporting events or non-school travel (planned in advance or not) |
| TRU | Truant | Non-confirmed absence that cannot be confirmed despite attempts and notification. |
