The District Weekly for March 6, 2024
March 6, 2024 (Spanish)
Hello BPS101 Family-
BPS101 Families, we need your help. We have been sharing information on an important survey called the 5Essentials Survey that is being compiled by the state of Illinois. We just received word that only 6% of our families have completed the survey, and we need a 20% response rate for them to share the results with us. Will you please take the 5Essentials Survey for us? Your participation in the parent survey will help us understand the conditions at your child’s school and guide improvement. The State of Illinois guarantees that survey responses will never be connected to the identity of you or your child. School reports will only show aggregated information on how parents and students responded as a whole. Please visit http://survey.5-essentials.org/illinois/survey/parent to take the parent survey. Additional information: Parent Guide (in English and Spanish) Thank you!

Ramadan
BPS101 recognizes the diverse religious backgrounds and values represented in the school community and the importance of being sensitive to the needs of all students and personnel. Making sure every student feels supported requires deliberate attention, and BPS101 sees this as an ongoing focus of its work. As we continue to see our demographic change, we must intentionally look at how we serve and partner with all families in our community. As many of you may already know, Ramadan is a Muslim religious observation month that includes fasting (including no water) from dawn until dusk. This month, meant to promote perseverance and tolerance, can also be challenging for students who have to go through a normal school day without eating or drinking. This year, Ramadan will begin on March 11 and end at sundown on Tuesday, April 9. It is important for our community to support the well-being of its students while providing a safe environment where they can continue the practice of their religion.
We share this to ask for your support in partnering with us to support these students. If students have the right accommodations and support from teachers, their peers, and the community, it can turn a challenging month into the most rewarding.
A Reminder from the City of Batavia
The City of Batavia has started the improvement project at the Prairie and Wilson Street intersection. This will disrupt traffic flow in the surrounding area and make commutes to our schools more challenging. The project is anticipated to be completed around December 2024. Please be mindful of detours and one-way traffic signs and give yourself additional time to navigate the area. For additional information, check the flyer in Backpack Mail.
