The District Weekly for January 10, 2024
January 10, 2024
Hello BPS101 Family-
Winter weather is here, and doesn’t seem to want to give us a reprieve. With the weather forecast this week and next, the superintendent may decide to call an e-learning day if it suits the situation. This allows instruction to continue in some capacity, but we must ensure that students and staff are prepared. Please remind your students to bring home any learning materials that will be necessary for e-learning. Additional information on school closings can be found HERE (https://www.bps101.net/school-closings/).
Many factors go into the decision making process. However, the overarching guiding principle is that learning happens best when students and teachers are in class together. Our schools also provide essential services for many of our students. If we believe it is safe to open, we will be open.
Kindergarten Meet & Greet
Do you have a student who will be turning five by September 1, 2024, that you are considering entering into kindergarten at a BPS101 elementary school for the 2024-2025 school year? Join us for a Kindergarten Meet and Greet on February 15, 2024. Sign up and more info HERE (https://www.bps101.net/kindergarten/).
A note to 8th Grade Families:
Incoming Freshmen Open House is Tomorrow Night! We invite incoming freshmen and their parents to learn more about our school and get ready for freshmen year at BHS! Details HERE (https://bhs.bps101.net/news/incoming-freshmen-open-house-jan-11-2024/).
A note from the Early Childhood Center at AGS
The Preschool Lottery closes at 4 PM on January 26th. The Preschool Open House is on January 17th from 6-7 PM, and we will have support for Spanish-speaking families. For information on the Lottery and the Open House, please visit: https://ec.bps101.net/preschool-program/
A note from the Student Services Department
Each year, the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) gathers information from a representative sample of parents with a child receiving special education services to determine the degree to which schools throughout the state are facilitating parent involvement in their child’s education. If you are the parent of a student with an Individualized Education Program (IEP), you may receive a survey in the mail from Measurement, Incorporated, the current contractor administering the ISBE survey. If you do receive the parent survey, please take a few minutes to complete it. The parent survey can be completed online or by mail. No one from BPS101 will know how you answered the survey questions.
