BPS101 Board of Education Welcomes Two New Board Members

Batavia Public School District 101 is pleased to welcome Tara Gray and Patrick Ryan as the newest members of the Board of Education.

The appointments fill two vacancies created following the resignations of former Board members in May. Tara Gray was sworn into office during the Board’s regular meeting on June 23, 2026, while Patrick Ryan took the oath of office during a Special Board of Education Meeting on July 13, 2026.

“We are grateful to everyone who expressed interest in serving our community through this appointment process,” said Board President Craig Meadows. “Tara and Patrick each bring valuable experience, thoughtful perspectives, and a genuine commitment to the success of Batavia Public School District 101. We look forward to working alongside them as we continue to make decisions that put students first.”

Tara Gray is returning to public service after serving twelve years as an elected member of another local governing board. She and her husband, Douglas, are parents of two Batavia High School students, including one current student and one member of the Class of 2025.

“I want to serve on the Board of Education to give back to my school community and to return to public service after serving on another board for 12 years,” Gray said. “I believe I am a strong communicator who can listen to varying sides of an issue. I have twelve years of elected board experience, along with cooperative work with other municipal groups. Perhaps most importantly, I am a heavily invested parent and citizen in our school community.”

Patrick Ryan brings executive leadership experience and a strong understanding of organizational governance. He and his wife, Trisha, have four children attending Batavia Public School District 101 schools, including two students at H.C. Storm Elementary School and two students at Batavia High School.

“I offer this board professional executive experience, an understanding of the strict line between governance and operations, and a deep personal commitment to the long-term stability of our district,” Ryan said. “I want to serve on the Board of Education because I have a deep stake in this community and four children currently attending our schools. I want to ensure this district remains high performing, fiscally responsible, and stable for my own children and every student.”

Superintendent Tom Kim welcomed both new members and expressed appreciation for their willingness to serve. “Serving on a Board of Education requires a significant commitment of time, thoughtful leadership, and a dedication to the entire school community,” Kim said. “We appreciate Tara and Patrick for making the commitment to serve Batavia Public School District 101 and look forward to working together in support of our students, staff, and families.”

The Board of Education is responsible for establishing the District’s vision and policies, overseeing the responsible stewardship of public resources, and supporting the educational success of every student. The BPS101 Board of Education is committed to providing high-quality education to all students and looks forward to working with the newly elected board members to achieve this goal.
