The Board of Education oversees the general operations of the District which includes: authorizing budgets and expenditures; hiring administration, faculty and staff; approving curriculum; and adopting policy. The Board consists of seven voting members, duly elected by the citizens of Batavia Public School District 101 every other spring (odd years). Members serve a four year term.
Board of Education governance requires written policies. Written policies ensure legal compliance, establish board processes, articulate District ends, delegate authority, and define operating limits. Board policies also provide the process for monitoring progress toward District ends.
