The District Weekly for September 28, 2022
September 28, 2022
Dear BPS101 Families-
This week, we are back to talk about two initiatives in the District; the Superintendent Search and the Referendum.
Batavia Public School District 101 Superintendent Search Survey
As many of you may know, BPS101 Superintendent Dr. Hichens is retiring at the end of this academic year. The BPS101 Board of Education has started the process of hiring a new superintendent, and they have hired an executive search firm to assist them in this process. The Board of Education would like your input as they begin their search for a new Superintendent to lead our district. A survey has been created and is now open. We ask all stakeholder groups to complete the survey by 5:00 pm Wednesday, October 5th. It is available in English or Spanish. They will use the information gathered from focus groups and the survey to help create a leadership profile for our next superintendent.
The Board thanks you for your effort in helping them with this important task.
Referendum Information
By now, you’ve probably heard about the school construction referendum on the November 8th election ballot. If approved by voters, the referendum will fund significant construction projects at each of our eight schools without increasing the bond and interest property tax levy. This week you will receive a message from building principals on the building-specific projects being proposed.
The referendum question is the culmination of Building Our Future Together, a multi-year community engagement process to develop a master facilities plan for our schools.
