Board of Education Seeks Applicants to Fill Two Vacancies

Batavia Public School District 101 is inviting community members interested in public service and public education to apply for two vacancies on the Board of Education.

“We encourage community members who are passionate about public education, thoughtful collaboration, and student success to consider applying for these vacancies as we continue working together to serve our students, families, staff, and community,” said Board of Education President Craig Meadows.

Applications must be submitted by Friday, June 12, at 6:00 p.m.

The Board of Education will interview candidates beginning at 4:00 p.m. on June 18. Candidates selected for interviews will be notified by June 17. During the interview process, candidates will provide an opening statement explaining why they wish to serve on the Board of Education. Opening statements must not exceed five minutes. Board members will then ask prepared questions during an interview expected to last approximately 30 minutes.

The individuals chosen to serve will be sworn into office at a Special Board Meeting on July 13. During that meeting, the Board will also elect a Secretary.

Under Illinois law, school board members must:
• Be a United States citizen
• Be a resident of the State of Illinois and of the school district for at least one year preceding the election
• Be at least 18 years of age
• Be a registered voter
• Not be a school trustee

Newly appointed Board members will also be required to complete mandatory training as outlined in the Illinois School Code.

Please complete this Google Form to apply for one of the two open positions on the BPS101 Board of Education. At the end of the form, you will be asked to attach a copy of your resume.
