BPS101 Seeks Parent Feedback on Updated Student Handbook

Batavia Public School District 101 has released a revised draft of the Student Handbook and is inviting parents and guardians to review the updates and share feedback before the document is finalized.

The updated handbook is designed to be clearer, more accessible, and easier to navigate. It includes direct links to Board policies, simplified explanations of student rights and responsibilities, and building-specific appendices for each school. Sections have been reorganized to improve readability, with district-wide information in Sections 1–17 and school-specific procedures in individual appendices.

Key updates include:

  • Health and Wellness: Clearer guidance on student medical care, medications, and allergy management.

  • Student Conduct: Updated language on progressive discipline, due process, and prohibited behaviors.

  • Technology Use: Streamlined expectations for student devices and online privacy under SOPPA.

  • Safety and Security: Expanded information on drills, reunification, and visitor procedures.

  • Non-Discrimination: Updated Title IX and grievance contacts for reporting concerns.

Parents are encouraged to review the proposed handbook and submit feedback by December 15, 2025, using the online feedback form. Comments will help ensure the final version reflects community input and meets state requirements for annual review and parent consultation under the Illinois School Code.
