Batavia Public School District 101

Always Learning, Always Growing

Greetings from Mrs. Prentiss!

I just wanted to take a moment to say "Hello" to all of you in the JB community! I have offically moved into my new office and have been settling in and meeting with my new staff, the PTO president and treasurer, and many other parents and students as well!

Thanks to those of you that I have already met as you made me feel so welcomed here at JB. I am honored and excited to be your new principal. You entrust us with the one's most important to you, your children, and I want you to know we will always do our best to challenge them and support their growth academically, emotionally, and artistically while they are here with us.

A little bit about myself. My teaching career spanned ten years in grades kindergarten-second grade. I was then an Assistant Principal for two years in East Aurora. I am pleased that many of the initiatives that I worked on for the past six years in Aurora will be beneficial here at JB. We will be focusing on strengthening our PBIS system, our Building Leadership Team, and our overall Professional Learning Community this year. Along with the numerous new initiatives that we will be rolling out district-wide; a new teacher evaluation process, a new reading curriculum, and our new daily schedule that integrates grade level planning time.

We also have some new staff members that wil lbe joining JB's team! Of course there is myself, but we have also hired a new school psychologist, a teacher for our developmental K-2 classroom, and we will have a new Speech and Language Pathologist on staff as well!

As I meet with staff and parents I consistently hear about all the fantastic strengths of this school. I am proud to be joining such a child-centered and collaborative staff and I am looking forward to many rewarding and enjoyable years serving as your instructional leader.

I hope you will join us for the following events:

August 16th: Supply Pick Up/ Meet & Greet (details from PTO to follow)

August 30th: Curriculum night grades 3,4,5 @ 7:00

September 4th: First PTO meeting of the school year! @ 7:00

September 6: Curriculum night grades K,1,2  @ 7:00

Please feel free to call or come in and meet me either in the summer or after school starts. I am confident we are going to have a fantastic first year together!

Warmly,

Mrs. Prentiss
