Early Reading Interventions
Each elementary building has a reading specialist that provides supplemental reading instruction for low achieving students in grades K-2, and assists classroom teachers as they provide interventions to students in reading.
Gifted Education
Each elementary building has a half-time gifted teacher to provide instruction in math for identified students in grades 3-5. At the middle school, students are provided advanced coursework on math and language arts. High school students have the opportunity to enroll in honors, advanced placement, and dual credit courses.
English Language Learners
Our bilingual teachers at Louise White, Hoover-Wood, and HC Storm provide supplemental instruction to Spanish speaking students with limited English skills in grades K-2. English as a Second Language (ESL) teachers provide support for students in all six elementary buildings, the middle school, and the high school who have limited English skills.
Early Childhood Center
The Early Childhood Center of Batavia (ECC) is the newest addition to the facilities of District 101. Opened in September of 2008, the ECC is the instructional home for approximately 120 children ages 3 to 5 years.
Summer School
Two programs are offered for approximately five weeks during the summer. Our Remedial program is provided for at-risk students, and our Enrichment program is provided for students who wish to explore additional topics of learning.
We Help Enrich Early Literacy(WHEEL)
This is an extension of our half-day kindergarten program for those students who come to kindergarten lacking reading readiness skills. Students attend a regular half-day kindergarten class in the morning and then in the afternoon attend an additional half-day of instruction that focuses on reading and writing skills.
